On January 9, 2025—the day after Lucas returned home from his mission and just before Sabrina completed her second transfer—they officially met. Sabrina and her companion had been contacting people on Lucas's street and stopped at his family's home to ask for water. Just a few days later, on January 12, 2025, Sabrina spent her final Sunday in Franca before getting transferred. Prior to leaving the city, she took photos with members, resulting in this gem with her future husband (which, of course, she didn't know at the time).

Almost 10 months later, Lucas still hadn't forgotten about Sabrina and decided that since she was nearing the end of her mission, it would be a good time to reach out.

Sabrina had 6 days to think about her response since she could only reply on preparation days (every Monday).

After 4 months of communicating every Monday through email-mostly audios-Sabrina and Lucas were able to call for the first time (approximately 10 minutes after she was released as a missionary). The next day, they became official as boyfriend and girlfriend.

Three and a half weeks later, Sabrina and Lucas were able to meet up in person for their first date in Chicago.

Sabrina stayed in Chicago for three weeks before returning home to New Jersey.

Lucas finished his semester in Chicago and came to stay with the Monsons for the summer. They have enjoyed going to the temple every week, exploring New York City, and playing lots of tennis.

Lucas proposed to Sabrina on the grounds of the Boston temple. It was the perfect place for this special moment where they committed to spend the rest of eternity together.
